YOUNG ATHLETES LEAGUE

This league is especially designed for the younger age group and gives the opportunity to compete against other athletes in the Midlands area.

We compete in the Midland Premier League, which has been slit into areas with 6 teams in each area, we compete against each 6 clubs in all fixtures.  With the top     clubs in each section going forward to area final

In order for us to hopefully do well this year and make the area final and hopefully beyond!!  It is vital that you all get correct training. 

The club provides training with event specific coaches:
Long and triple jump – Nigel Kevsteven on Monday(time to be advised),Tuesday and Thursday 6.30 – 7.45

High Jump – Donna Varley on Mondays 7.30 – 8.15

Hurdles – Deb Offler on Tuesdays 6.30 – 7.45

Sprints - Andy Ashley on Tuesday and Thursdays 6.30 – 7.45

Endurance – Simon Pitts and Louise Skidmore  / Steve Roe on Tuesday and Thursdays 6.00 – 7.15 and 6.30 – 7.45 respectively

Throws – Fiona Palmer on Mondays 6.00 – 7.00 and Mick Robinson on Tuesday and Thursdays

Guy Ferguson has very kindly agreed to team manage the U17 this season as Niell Gregg is not able to do so this season. I would like to thank him for all his hard work last season

Please note that this is a team-selected event and all teams will be selected 2 weeks prior the event.  It is vital that you inform your team manager as soon as possible if you are unable to compete to allow a replacement to be selected.

Club vests will be required and they can be purchased from the canteen or myself at a cost of £16.00 (XS) and £17.50 all other sizes.  I only have a small stock, on sale on the day but can get correct size if I know before hand.

Please Note

All U17’s the YAL needs to be your main priority followed by the National Junior League.  The first YAL fixture is the day after the Midland Senior league and so therefore the YAL needs to take priority. 

There are coaches provided for those of you who would like to use them for a small charge, it was £6 per person last year, I will confirm prices for this season before the start of the season,  officials go free, so come on all you parents we are always in need of extra officials and there is usually a free lunch and  hot drinks. We are always on the look out for volunteers, REMEMBER – FOR YOUR CHILD TO COMPETE OFFICALS ARE NEEDED, PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE IT TO SOMEONE ELSE!!!
