BAL Cup

BAL GOLDEN JUBILEE CUP COMPETITION FOR 2007 - NEW RULES

Results

Round 1
Semi Final

SUMMARY

Because of waning interest over recent years, the BAL Golden Jubilee Cup competition is being completely re-vamped for 2007. Separate matches will be held for men and women (though in the Final an award will be made for the best aggregate Club score by both sexes). The idea is to stage 10 events in the space of 100 minutes. The competition will be known as the “10 in a 100” cup. There are to be 3 Rounds to the competition (1st. Round by 10 June, Semi-finals by 22 July and the Final on 18 Aug. at Bedford). Club entry fee is £15 (for each sex).

DETAILS

  • Each round to consist of 6 track events (including a 1600M Medley relay - 400M, 2 x 200M and 800M) and 4 field events (including 1 long throw). Events to be rotated during the 3 rounds of the competition. For more details see below.
  • Entry to be for “first claim” athletes only (i.e. “HCAs” not eligible). Participants to be selected from seniors, juniors and U17s who have achieved AAA Senior Grade 3 standard.
  • Entry for one Team (each sex) per Club in 2007 (this may be changed for future years).
  • Each Team must comprise a minimum of 8 athletes, including the medley relay, but each Club is expected to field a full complement of athletes.
  • For throwing events, all competitors to have 6 trials.
  • For jumping events, each competitor in the long, and triple, jumps to have 6 trials but those in the high jump and the pole vault to have a maximum of 8 trials, but no more than 3 attempts at a particular height, with elimination if said height is not cleared.
  • Scoring, per event, will be 9-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 for an eight Team match. If fewer Teams take part there will be no change. So, for example, in a 6-Team match, the scores will be 10-8-6-5-4-3.
  • In event of a tie on points, the Club with the most event wins shall be placed higher. If these are equal, then the “tie breaker” will be the number of 2nd places and so on. If Clubs still cannot be separated then the final positions shall be determined “by lots”.
  • The draw will be regional. No seeding.
  • Promotion of separate men's and women's competitions in the same area, or at the same venue, will be considered (subject to the respective entry lists).
  • Depending on the draw, it may be possible for some matches to take place in the evening and/or during the week, rather than at the weekend.
  • Max. number of Teams at one venue will be 8 in the 1st round (depending on the number of entries, it might be less - no details yet available). The Semis are expected to be 8 Teams at each venue. Qualification for the final will depend on the number of semis held (no details yet available)
