Congratulations and a big thank you to all the athletes who competed for Notts AC throughout this season and a special thank you to the athletes that turned up for all the competitions.
The atmosphere was exciting as we started the last match, with the under 11 boys only just ahead by a few points. They had all to play for! It needed all the efforts of Paddy Clark running, Ross Golledge triple jumping, Moranga Mokaya vertical high jumping and Ben Johnson chest pushing to win their age group. Well-done boys!
The under 11 girls have been plagued by a shortage of regular athletes but they managed to finish second, which was a good result, maybe we can win next year girls!
The under 13 girls have had some excellent performances throughout the season with Anna Davies improving on her shot to a pb of over 8 meters, Alice Hillyer over coming her nerves to regularly win the 2 lap race and new to sportshall Ella Dermot Banahan putting in strong performances in running and jumping. The girls finished second overall.
The under 13 boys have had an excellent season with Joe Johnson, Lewis Golledge and Perry Offler proving to be invincible, along with help from Josh Wilson, Macaulay Buxton and Josh Wainwright on occasions. Perry has had an excellent season, winning every event in the field and although running is not his favourite past time, he also won the 2lap and finished with the best performance of the season in the 4 lap, wiping 4 seconds off his time from last season, easing up into the last lap for an excellent win!
The under 15 girls was led by Laura Mason winning every individual 2 lap and 4 lap race and bringing home the relay team to a win in every match. Laura also put in excellent performances in the field, so well done! Helping Laura along the way with excellent performances, was Lucy Johnson, Clare Ashley, Beth Dawson, Nicole Wedderburn, Kirsty Marshall and Rosa Spencer Tansley. The girls won the title convincingly.
Under 15 boys led the way from start to finish with a very strong team led by Jack Johnson closely followed by Michael Ware and Anthony Pidgeon, with the occasional help from Romane Williams, Stephen Holder and Lance Gray. Jack won every race and performed strongly in the field. Michael ran excellently this season (and he doesn’t even train for running). He is ranked second in both the 2 lap and 4 lap, so well done to Michael. Anthony Pidgeon, again new to the sport, threw magnificently in the shot, ran well and won the vertical high jump.
To sum up the final results are as follows:
U11 girls 2nd
U11 boys 1st
U13 girls 2nd
U13 boys 1st
U15 girls 1st
U15 boys 1st
Overall team Notts AC winners.
