Brilliant night of racing at 2026 Notts AC Open

Harvey Hadden Stadium saw an excellent night of racing on 12 June with five races across the mile and 5000m races.

The first race of the night saw Ethan Daykin of Notts AC in a close race the whole way with David Jordan, taking the win in the Mile C race in a time of 5.35.3. Recent British Masters Mile Record Holder David Oxland delivered another great performance in 6.05.7 which only a few weeks ago would have also been a british record.

14 runners lined up for the first of the two 5000m races, which included the ladies A race. Kiri Marsh of Notts AC took the women's title in 18.17.1 from Anna Bianchi of Rushcliffe AC and Naomi Prosser of 4Life Triathlon Club in third. Winning the 5000m B race over all was Notts AC's Keanu Barnwell.

Next up was the 5000m A race featuring a strong line up. Notts AC's Alastair Watson and Newark's Elliot Smith-Rasmussen exchanged the lead up until the 3km when Watson pulled away to take the win in 14.47.2. 10 runners in total dipped under the 17 minute mark.

The closest race of the night came in the Mile B Race, with the first three finishers covered by 1.5 seconds, Aric Klukowski coming out winner in 5.03.5. The Richard Bird Mile for the women was won by Lily Winfield of Heanor RC in 5.16.1.

The last race of the night didn't disappoint with William Brailey of Notts AC chasing down Newarks Elliot Smith-Rasmussen with 400m to go to take the win in 4.26.7. A total of 7 runners went sub 5 in the race including a number of stand-out performances including William Reddish in 4.38.6.
