EA National Relay Championships, Alexander Stadium, Birmingham, Sunday August 23, 2026

Six notts ac athletes standing together for a photo, most wearing their green, white and yellow Notts AC kit. Its a sunny day.

The National Relay Championships cover sprint relays for age groups from u16, up to masters. Entry is by invite, and based upon national rankings derived from times attained in competition each season. This year, four Notts AC teams were invited by the organisers:

  • U16 Girls 4 x 100m

  • U18 Women 4 x 100m

  • U20 Women 4 x 100m – invite declined due to lack of athletes.

  • Senior Women 4 x 100m

Sadly, no medals or finals this year, but our athletes put in superb performances, of which the club should be proud. Results were as follows:

U16 Girls - Allegra Bower, Edos Ihunde, Abigail Sheppard-Howe, Betsy Wilton

Orla Byrne (R), Asari Boafo (R) finished 14th out of 24 with a new PB 50.78

U18 Women - Tanaya Elliot-Cole, Tomi Adesina, Silvia Onwubiko, Isla Hiscocks

also finished 14th out of 24 and with a new PB of 50.44

Senior Women - Gabrielle Caesar, Fura Mabengi, Louise Hirst , A’Janai Bowen

Unfortunately DNF on 3rd exchange

Most impressive performance on the day was arguably by the u16 Girls team, finishing with a 1.25s PB and within 0.34 seconds of their U18 club mates. Three members of this team will be moving up to u18 next year, and will take precious relay skills/techniques with them into the upper YDL and senior competitions.

National Relays continues to be a superb meeting, and one that provides opportunities to athletes just outside of consideration for competitions like English Schools, to experience a major tournament.

Thanks to Notts AC, Mick Robinson and athletes and parents for supporting us in this.
